Disinfection of wastewater

Ship installations for disinfection of wastewater are required in order to avoid pollution of water spaces with domestic waste water. This is achieved through dilution and disinfection.

According to the adopted International Sanitary Convention, all ship-generated waste is divided into household and waste (or black and gray according to the generally accepted marine classification).

1. Sewage (black) water means wastewater from:

· Rooms that contain animals;

· Infirmaries and ambulance stations and other medical facilities;

· All kinds of toilets.

 2. Domestic (gray) waters include drains from laundry rooms, sinks, shower cabins, washbasins, scuppers, urinals, baths.

Types of devices for wastewater treatment.

All systems that are designed for water purification, placed on ships, are conventionally divided into two types:

· Systems for filtration and biological processing of water for the purpose of its further use, both technical and domestic;

· Systems for treating water runoffs before they are discharged overboard.

 Biological treatment systems have a number of disadvantages, including a narrow range of vital activity of bacteria and a long cleaning cycle.

Therefore, water treatment plants have found wide application.

How do disinfection plants work?

The water treatment cycles in the sewage treatment plant are repeated at a predetermined frequency, depending on the installation volume. Contaminated water from the storage tank is transported to the working tank installation. Here the water is settled and a special disinfectant is added to it. Turns on the grinding and circulating pump, which pumps the accepted volume of wastewater in a circle. There is a physico-chemical reaction. As a result of this process, the pollution indicator is reduced to an acceptable level. Then, the disinfected water is diluted with seawater and discharged into the open sea, or further used by the crew at its discretion.

Wastewater treatment is a fully automated process. The cycles are repeated continuously until the water in the storage tank reaches the minimum marks.

Installation of reverse osmosis.

For the desalination of outboard salt water installation with reverse osmosis most popular. As with the help of these devices, it is possible to free sea water from impurities and make it completely drinkable and for any other purposes.

Structurally, these devices consist of special porous membranes through which the working medium is filtered under high pressure and at the same time is cleared of salts, bacteria and other impurities. Sea water becomes fresh and potable with minimal energy.

SBS cooperates with leaders in the production of reverse osmosis plants. Therefore, we are ready to offer high-quality desalination plants in a wide range of performance.
